Five Counties Legal Services

Five Counties Legal Services Ltd. was established on February 20th, 2014, with the purpose of providing consultancy and locum services to solicitor firms that were experiencing high workloads in their respective areas and neighbouring counties. With authorization from the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the company is now able to offer legal services in private client and property matters directly to the public.

The principal solicitor of the company, Alexander Ian Fraser, qualified in May 1981 after completing his articles of clerkship with the Lincolns Inn firm Speechly Mumford & Soames (now Charles Russell Speechlys). He subsequently gained experience working in various medium- to small-sized law practises in the West of England, the Home Counties, and London, handling a wide range of civil law cases.

In 1984, following a brief period as a locum, he took over the Dalston practise previously owned by Julius Fineberg, LLB, who was the founding secretary of the North East London Law Society and its first honorary president. Soon after, he established a branch office in Archway, North London. In 1996, he joined a medium-sized practise, Wilson Barca incorporating Frasers, as a consultant solicitor.

In November 2002, Ian ended his consultancy with the Archway practise and assumed a similar role with Weld & Beavan, an established law firm in Enfield, Middlesex. There, he dealt with various areas of law, including conveyancing, landlord-tenant, and probate/private client matters. He remained with the firm until the retirement of its sole principal in February 2014. Subsequently, he joined the successor firm as a consultant in the property and private client departments until April 2018. Afterward, he undertook several locum positions with local firms in Westminster and the home counties.

In addition to his involvement with Five Counties, Ian currently holds active consultancy roles with solicitor firms in Harrow, Berkhamsted, and Aylesbury. In these capacities, he provides advice and assistance on all aspects of civil law.
